M.A.D. (MUTUALLY ASSURED DESTRUCTION) ALLUDES TO A TERM COINED IN THE COLD WAR AS A DOCTRINE TO MAINTAIN PEACE BY THE THREAT OF NUCLEAR WAR. THE SOLO EXHIBITION, WHICH WAS MADE POSSIBLE BY A GRANT FROM THE GERMAN CULTURAL INSTITUTE IN ITALY, TOOK PLACE IN AN ABANDONED WWII BUNKER IN 2015, BUILT AS PART OF THE ALPINE WALL BY MUSSOLINI IN THE LATE 1930'S. (mutually assured destruction) alludes to a term coined in the cold war as a doctrine to maintain peace by the threat of nuclear war. the solo exhibition, which was made possible by a grant from the german cultural institute in italy, took place in an abandoned WW2 bunker in 2015. reflecting upon the bunker’s original function as a military compound & drawing parallels to todays international political climate, the artist created a series of projectiles made of laasa marble, also known as carrara marble. a hallucinatory merry-go-round that serves as a metaphor of the relationship between power & war.
