M.A.D. (mutually assured destruction) alludes to a term coined in the cold war as a doctrine to maintain peace by the threat of nuclear war. the solo exhibition, which was made possible by a grant from the german cultural institute in italy, took place in an abandoned WW2 bunker in 2015. reflecting upon the bunker’s original function as a military compound & drawing parallels to todays international political climate, the artist created a series of projectiles made of laasa marble, also known as carrara marble. a hallucinatory merry-go-round that serves as a metaphor of the relationship between power & war.
